Tuesday, the 5th grade class conducted an inquiry lab as an introduction to our unit on light. Students made observations ("I noticed...") and asked questions ("I wonder...") about how light interacted and behaved when shined on different materials. They made some great observations. I think the coolest materials were the prisms and the straw in a glass of water. Following the lab, our young scientists connected what they saw and experienced with their vocabulary words. They made some great observations and connects. They have been growing in their ability to scientifically describe what they are experiencing. They have expressed great excitement as we begin this unit, which is one of my personal favorites to teach!
