Homework Policy

5th Graders will be receiving nightly homework in Math/Science this year.  Assignments will be directly related to the work we do in class - acting as direct reinforcement.  Assignments should take no longer than 30 minutes on average.

Assignments are due the following school day (the date should be written on the assignment).  If a student does not hand in their completed assignment on the correct day, they will receive a zero until it is turned it.  It is expected that missing assignments be returned the next day - large amounts of late homework assignments will not be accepted.  Assignments that are not returned the day following the initial due date will receive a 0.

Homework is graded for effort and completeness - standard Study Skill #2 (SS.2) - completes work outside of class.  Student who demonstrate a solid effort and attempt at all problems will receive a 3.  Incomplete assignments will receive grades of a 1 or 2 depending on their level of completeness.  If a student goes beyond what was directed on the homework (i.e. extra practice problems, elaborating on answers, etc.), they may receive a 4.

Expect homework every night, except Fridays (during the summer quint).

If you have questions about this, please contact me.  Thanks.
