Science Fair

The 4th Annual Science Fair will be held on Thursday, April 23.  Specific details will follow.

This is the Quint 5 Interdisciplinary Project and is mandatory for all students.

Yesterday (Tuesday), a letter was sent home along with some ideas for research questions.  Students had some time in class to look over the list and brainstorm their own.  By Friday, all students will need to have selected a question for their project.  This question must be approved by a parent/guardian and by me.

Today (Wednesday), students will receive their proposal paper, on which they will write their selected question to submit to me.  This proposal requires a parent/guardian signature.  Please take the time to talk about your child's selected question - some research questions require the purchase of materials (some more costly than others).  PROPOSALS ARE DUE BY FRIDAY 3/27/15

I have spoken with students about not doing science fair projects that require them to grow a plant from seed - there is not enough time for that type of experiment to be successful.  If a student wants to do something with plants, they can use already grown, potted plants or seedlings.

Specific dues dates will be sent home on Monday, March 30.  The Science Fair Journal will also be sent home.  I suggest that students have a separate folder or small (1/2 inch) 3-ring binder to keep their journal.  If a students loses the journal, they will have to start over.  The journal will come to school everyday with the students.

If you have any questions about the proposal or in general, please email me.

THANKS! :)
