PEMDAS
"Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally"
Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction
*In that order!*
In an equation with multiple operations, the operations should be completed in the order above. The tricky part is multiplication division and addition/subtraction. These operations are to be done in the order they appear in the equation, from left to right. This means that if division comes first as your read it, you divide before you multiply. The same goes for addition. (Parents - this is different from what many of us learned in school, including myself.)
