Invention Fair

It is time to start preparing for the 3rd Annual Capital Prep STEM Expo Invention Fair.  This year's STEM Expo will be held on Thursday, February 26 between 12 and 2 (specific schedule details will follow).  This is a mandatory project and counts as the Quint 4 Interdisciplinary Project.

Students in grades PreK-2 will work with their class to create an invention to solve a problem they face.  Students in grades 3-5 will individually create (or improve upon) an invention to solve a problem of their choice.  Specific assignment details will be sent home by your child's classroom teacher.

In regards to the 4th and 5th grade students specifically, please see this letter from the 4/5 team.  This letter is being sent home today (Thursday) and requires a parent/guardian signature.

The first assignment for all 4th and 5th grade students is the Invention Plan.  You can access the document digitally by following the link above.  The Invention Plan is due on or before Monday, January 26.  It also requires a parent or guardian's signature.

Journals will be distributed Thursday/Friday to students.  Journal assignment due dates are listed on the second page of the journal (not included in the linked journal above).  Most assignments require students to answer a question, brainstorm a list or problems/solutions, and work on an invention design.  All invention building and display board creating will be done AT HOME.

If you have questions about the project now or along the way, please do not hesitate to ask!
