Science Experiments

Even though this is only my 3rd year as a classroom teacher, I have established a couple traditions for the beginning of the year.  One of the things I have done is a special, fun science lab for each grade.  The 4th grade does an experiment revolving around gum and the 5th grade creates a lab about paper airplanes.  Today, both classes conducted their labs.  The 4th graders designed their lab as a class and conducted it in smaller groups.  The 5th graders designed and conducted their entire experiments in collaborative groups.  I think they had a lot of fun working with the Scientific Method to design and conduct their labs.  I really enjoyed guiding them and observing them as real scientists.  They all did a great job!  Now, we will work to analyze our data and draw conclusions.
